I studied at the "Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse" of PARIS :
Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue, class on conducting an orchestra, and piano...
I quickly became very interested in light music and film music.
Just as my cousin Michel LEGRAND was before me.
What I find fascinating in film music is that whilst the composer is free to interpret the director's wishes in his own style, he also has the enormous constraint of pertinently composing the right music to integrate the scene perfectly.
Moreover, the film in itself is a profound source of inspiration.
Composing well-suited music and perfectly timing the scenes are essential so as to ensure that the music falls at exactly the right moment.
The emotion emanating from the whole of the film or from one scene in particular must be fully experienced.
This is all totally fascinating and it allows the composer to express a multitude of musical colours in a kingdom where the King represents orchestration techniques and the Queen represents artistic sensivity and imagination.
I think that you must have understood that my great passion lies in composing film music !!!
